It is so nice of Rosalie to help us out like this—and for those of you with CATS, the SOSies she crochets (big mice) are the cat’s meow—cats love them & they make great gifts for the cats in yours or a friend’s life. They are well done and worth it! She lives downtown so if you have friends that way who like to order delicious goodies, please pass this along! Rosalie also appreciates left-over balls of knitting yarn donated to her to make her SOSies for cats! And if anyone has GOOD tins for her cookies, etc, she’d appreciate them being donated. Contact Rosalie directly for all of this! Thank you! Gerdy’s Rescues From: Rosalie Moscovitch [mailto:wabbit@videotron.ca] Sent: October 15, 2009 7:44 PM To: Undisclosed-Recipient:; Subject: A little reminder Hi, folks! That time is fast approaching -- the time to let me know if you plan to order cookies or squares or tea breads for yourselves or for gifts for the holiday season. You may also order any other time of year, of course, but holiday orders require lots of advance notice! I was so overwhelmed last year that I need to plan everything early enough this time. Remember that prices are based on cost of ingredients and supplies as well as on labor and time involved PER BATCH and not necessarily on weight or yield. Please allow sufficient advance notice. Pickup only, please! Here's the list of prices per BATCH for cookies and brownies: (a batch can yield anywhere from about 24- 60 cookies) Melting Moments, Soft Spicy Molasses, Little Tender Shorties (plain or chocolate) $8 Jam Thumbprints, Soft Oatmeal Raisin, Regular Chocolate Chip, Soft Chocolate Cookies $10 Peanut Butter Butterscotch Chip, Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal, Chocolate Crinkles $12 Double Chocolate Chunk, Chocolate Chubbies, Chocolate Chip Skor Pecan $16 Very Fudgy Brownies, with or without chopped pecans, 9 x 14 pan $15 Other kinds - to be discussed Quickbreads (each loaf weighs approximately 1 1/2-2 lbs): Beaver Banana (not your usual banana bread taste!), Banana Yogurt Chip Bread, Zucchini Bread, Date Mocha, Glazed Lemon, Glazed Orange, Carrot Spice . . . . $9 Carrot Spice Pineapple Pecan . . . . $10 Blueberry Lemon . . . . $12 Muffins per Dozen Banana Chip, Carrot Spice, Bran plain or with chopped dried fruit or nuts . . . . $12 Blueberry Streusel . . . . $15 Special Treat Glazed Nuts (pecans, almonds and peanuts) . . . . $10 per batch (8-10 ounces) ***** Also available any time during the year: large meat loaf - $10, Egg Noodle Kugel - $8, Assorted soups (depends on ingredients and labor) and tangy-sweet rainbow coleslaw (yield about 9 cups) - $12. This is comprised of green onions, garlic, celery, carrots, cabbage, radishes (if desired), sweet peppers in a special boiled marinade. Keeps for weeks in the fridge. This list is just to keep for reference. No need to respond unless you have questions, and/or if you are ready to order and prepared to give me the date of pickup. I do not have room in my freezer for storage: I like to bake the day before or the day of pickup. You may, if you wish, pick up your items in advance, wrap them airtight in foil or other proper freezer container and keep them until you are ready to thaw them and wrap them for presentation. If you do not supply your own cookie tins or gift boxes, I do charge extra for those. I usually get them at the dollar store. If you ever have some to donate to my supply (used CLEAN ones are fine, too) at any time of year, that would be appreciated! Cookie size varies so I cannot tell you how many will fit into which size tin; this is something you will have to estimate on your own before ordering. Oh, yes! For those who wish to begift cats and kittens with SOSsies, those are still available, too, at $5 each. Part of the proceeds will be donated either to the SPCA or to Gerdy's Animal Rescue. I keep only enough to purchase yarn, catnip, stuffing and any other supplies needed. I have a dozen or so ready now. Thanks.
